Christy Shackelford, PA-C

Physician Assistant

About Christy Shackelford, PA-C

Christy is a physician assistant with a passion for connecting with patients and helping them feel seen and supported. She started her healthcare journey in nuclear imaging, but always envisioned doing something more in medicine—so she followed that passion and went back to school at Florida State University to become a PA.

Christy found herself drawn to women’s health for a couple of reasons – her time in nuclear medicine, where she only had brief interactions with patients and realized she desired a more fulfilled career with more direct patient care. Building real connections and getting to know women’s stories allows Christy to treat each patient as a whole and not just their symptoms. Her other reason for choosing a PA career path is through her own experience as a patient—dealing with symptoms that didn’t show up clearly on paper and feeling dismissed. When she was a student with Dr. Stephanie Lee at Elite Women’s Health, something clicked. Christy saw herself in so many of the patients walking through the door, just hoping someone would understand and help. That connection is what drives her every day.

When she’s not in the office, you’ll find her out on a run, curled up with a good book, or trying (emphasis on trying!) a new sewing project. Christy and her husband are proud FSU alumni and love cheering on the Seminoles at every chance they get.
