Nurse Midwife
About Brandy Lee Thomas, CNM
Brandy has been practicing as a Certified Nurse-Midwife here in the Bradenton / Sarasota area since 2011. Her passion for obstetric and women’s health care began in the late 1990s when she was a hospital corpsman assigned to the labor and delivery unit at NMC Portsmouth. Her experience there in the high-risk labor unit influenced her to pursue a degree in nursing after her active duty service was complete.
While in nursing school, Brandy worked full time at Manatee Memorial Hospital as an OB operating room technician and first assistant for cesarean sections. After she obtained her nursing degree, she worked as a labor and delivery nurse at Manatee Memorial and Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. During this time, she continued her education and eventually earned her Master of Science in Nursing degree, specializing in nurse-midwifery.
Brandy’s main focus is educating women in order to help them recognize and manage normal changes during puberty, pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause. She also considers family planning and health maintenance to be vital and loves to take time to discuss these with her patients.
Brandy enjoys playing and coaching volleyball, working out at CrossFit, and competing as a masters weightlifter. She is currently serving in the United States Navy Reserves as a lieutenant in the Nurse Corps. She is the mother of 3 adult children, including twin sons who are on active duty in the Navy.
